Anyone tried prescription stop smoking medicines? If so, did they work for you?

I have recently been told that there are some prescription medicines that help you to stop smoking, and that they work very well. Has anybody tried them? If so, what one did you try, and how well has it worked for you?

I took Wellbutrin, and it worked like a charm. No cravings, no problem. They told me to take it for six weeks and keep smoking for the first two weeks. Then just stop. That’s exactly what I did, eight years ago (after smoking for 24 years and trying really hard to quit a bunch of times.) I couldn’t believe how easy it was.
Zyban is the same medicine, sold specifically as a quit-smoking aid. If you get a prescription for Zyban, you will probably have to pay for it out-of-pocket. It ain’t cheap.
If you get your doctor to write the prescription for Wellbutrin instead, you get the same medicine (as an antidepressant) and your insurance will probably pay for it. Just tell your doctor you are depressed about smoking :>0

No, they do not work at least not for me none of that kind of crap did. You have to truly want to stop and just do it the first couple of weeks are ruff for awhile but what did work for me was a combo of lifesavers, and chewing gum. I had tried to quit for years and wasn’t able to until I met the right woman and she didn’t like smokers so I just stopped. I spent about as much for the first couple of months in lifesavers but I did it, don’t waste your money on gimmicks just stop.

As a nurse i have worked with patients on “Chantix” and i feel that it is very effective.
